Interior removal for an energy-led home renovation
An energy-led renovation can require selective interior exposure rather than an indiscriminate house gut. The retrofit designer determines the proposed assemblies and testing. Demolition follows the surfaces that must be opened for that design; it does not calculate heat loss or promise energy savings.

Read the house section at its junctions
An illustrative section runs from a wall lining to a window return and then to the ceiling above. A new assembly may need one of those surfaces opened, or it may need the connected junction exposed. Mark the required extent on the design instead of assuming that every room surface must leave.
| Scope option | Useful question |
|---|---|
| Targeted lining removal | What exact surface must the receiving contractor inspect or reach? |
| Connected room exposure | Which wall, return and ceiling junctions need to be seen together? |
| Broader renovation strip | Which additional removals belong to the room redesign rather than the energy work? |
This is an illustrative comparison, not a recommended envelope assembly. The retrofit professional decides the construction and any tests needed before new finishes conceal it.
Separate the envelope and service packages
Mechanical equipment replacement has its own responsible trades. Do not interpret a new heating proposal as authority to remove boilers, ducts or connected equipment as part of ordinary finish removal. Similarly, insulation treatment and affected material assessment need their appropriate responsibilities.
MetroPoint does not perform abatement. Unknown or suspect conditions should remain explicit review items before affected work. A clean-looking wall surface does not establish the nature of the layers behind it.
Retain rooms deliberately
Where a room remains finished, identify the edge at which exposure stops and whether adjacent services or access affect it. The receiving contractor should explain how the new assembly meets the retained construction. Keeping a room on the plan does not guarantee that it remains usable during the works.
Prepare the removal brief
Bring the selected retrofit design, marked exposure areas and the person responsible for the next inspection. Distinguish energy-related openings from optional room renovation so the assessment does not combine unrelated removals by accident. MetroPoint assesses the ordinary demolition extent; grants, performance and completed-envelope approval remain outside that scope.
