Laundry alcove removal without a basement gut
Can the laundry enclosure be removed while the rest of the basement stays?
Define the alcove enclosure, appliances and connections as separate items. Removing doors and partitions around a laundry area does not include disconnecting machines or changing ventilation, drains or supply lines. The trades and owner need to decide whether laundry operation is retained, suspended or relocated.

Protect the remaining basement function
Identify whether the laundry area shares space with a furnace, water heater or electrical panel. Removing its enclosure can change the route through the basement, but does not authorise moving or obstructing retained equipment. Ask the project team to resolve the planned arrangement before release.
Show the appliance positions, doorway, drain area and adjacent finishes in the enquiry. A machine remaining in the room is not automatically a protected operating appliance during work. Agree its status and the conditions for resuming use with the relevant trade. Keep the rest of the basement explicitly outside the removal boundary.
